My 4 top tips on how to reduce eye strain.
In these times we find ourselves in there are a lot of people working from home so the hours of screen time have increased and I want to go through with you how to look after your eye health during these unprecedented times.
Top tip number 1 is wear your glasses. I know that goes without saying, however, some people try get by with squinting at their screen to be able to see what we need to see, but if you have glasses wear them. Make sure that they’re clean as well.
Top tip number 2 is to reduce the amount of screen time you are on your devices for during the day. If you find, however, that you are working and required to spend 8 hours a day on the computer then consider breaking up those hours into smaller chunks and spreading them out over the course of the day. For example: 2-3 hours in the morning from say 7am to 10am, the same for around midday and then any remaining hours just before dinner.
Top tip number 3 is to use your screen time during the day and not in the evening. If you are still needing to do some work or catch up on social media try and do it at least 2 hours before going to bed, just so that it doesn’t interrupt how our bodies would naturally go to sleep and help prevent a relentless sleep as well.
And my top tip number 4 is the 20/20/20 rule. What I mean by that is for every 20 minutes you are on your devices for look into the distance of about 20 feet and do that for 20 seconds.
